Frank J. Sahulka was born on December 1, 1911 and passed away just shy of his 99th birthday on October 4th, 2010. I have considered 100 years in remembering my father this morning, not just his 100 years, but these 100 years so full of advancements that would have seemed miraculous to a boy peering through a life that would span two centuries.
His era saw the real development of motion in its fullest form, mass transportation and communication manifested in planes, cars, helicopters, jet engines, airmail, radio tuners, televisions, computers, the internet, dreaded email and my beloved Ipad. When I was a child, my father and I walked endlessly along highways being built, around airports and in the remains of Olympic Park. These were touch points for him, infinite examples of his past and the rapid development of the present moving forward in front of him. My father was a curious, highly athletic man, who taught me the love of hard work, and an abiding respect for automobiles and baseball.
